buriti is a video mapping generated by using text to image AI techniques and explores the origins of life and the intrinsic connection between humans and nature, represented by its four elements: air, earth, fire and water. The word “buriti” comes from the tupi-guarani indigenous language which means “the tree of life” and is also the name of a native palm tree found in South America. Artpiece selected via open call for a video mapping festival in Bahia, Brasil.
Developed for the competitive screening at the Mapping do Castelo Festival in partnership with the artist Francisco Barretto, this audiovisual artwork is like an ode to our roots, culture and the knowledge of the original populations and their importance for our origin, growth and development of all life on earth as an ecosystem.
